Our mission
ORCID is part of the wider digital infrastructure needed for researchers to share information on a global scale. We enable transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and affiliations by providing an identifier for individuals to use with their name as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities.
ORCIDは、研究者が地球規模で情報を共有することを必要とされている、広範なデジタル・インフラの一つです。私たちは、名前と同じように活用できる個別の識別子を提供することで、透明で信頼に足る研究者や彼らの貢献、所属に関する接続を可能にします。そして、研究者がこの識別子を用いることにより、研究活動や資金獲得、イノベーション活動に従事するのです。
Our values
ORCID is a not-for-profit organization, sustained by fees from our member organizations. Our work is open, transparent, and non-proprietary. We are guided by the principles of privacy and researcher control, and the vision of identifier-enabled research information infrastructure. We make decisions collaboratively, involving our staff, Board, those who support our mission, and the researchers and community that are the purpose of our work.

We take a global view. We have a diverse team, deployed internationally in our “virtual office.” We engage with a wide range of organizations and people to ensure broad viewpoints. Our strategic plan
During 2017, we embarked on a journey to explore how ORCID can optimally position its offering to empower researchers and advance the research ecosystem to drive better research outcomes. We started by imagining potential scenarios for the research environment in 2035. We considered the implications of these scenarios for ORCID and identified four core strategies:
